Jacana Energy will be participating in the Alice Springs Future Grid Project

14 August 2020

The two-year project will address technical, regulatory, social and economic barriers to help increase renewable energy penetration in the Alice Springs power grid.

The following sub-projects are part of Alice Springs Future Grid with an investment of $9.3 million:

  • A large scale battery system
  • A household battery trial for up to 50 customers, with batteries controlled to provide grid support services
  • Tariff reforms to investigate the incentives required to encourage a change in consumer behaviour and drive higher uptake of household batteries with rooftop solar
  • A roadmap for how the Alice Springs electricity grid could operate with 50 per cent renewables by 2030.

As an organisation committed to the uptake of renewable energy in the NT, we will be leading the tariff reform component of this innovative, world-class project.
