Life support customer register
If you require uninterrupted electricity supply to operate life support equipment for a person residing at your home, Jacana Energy will place the details of your property on our Life Support Customer register.
This means that the network provider, Power and Water Corporation, has an obligation to give you notice of any planned electricity outage that may affect your service.
While your registration for the Life Support customer register can assist in keeping you informed if the power goes out, you still need to have an emergency plan for unforeseen power interruptions.
You may qualify for our Life Support Customer register if you use the following equipment:
- Oxygen concentrator
- Intermittent peritoneal dialysis machine
- Kidney dialysis machine
- Chronic positive airways pressure respirator
- Crigler Najjar syndrome phototherapy equipment
- Ventilator for life support
- Any other equipment a registered medical practitioner certifies is required for life support.
How to apply
1. Confirm your eligibility
Check with your medical practitioner to confirm that you or someone living with you has a medical condition that requires any of the life support equipment listed above.
2. Complete the application form
Download the Life Support Customer register application form here.
3. Contact your medical practitioner
Your medical practitioner will need to complete, sign and stamp the Medical practitioner details and Medical condition confirmation sections on the Life Support Customer register application form.
4. Send us your application
Email your form to email@example.com or post to Jacana Energy, GPO Box 1785, Darwin NT 0801.
Maintaining your registration status
Each year, Jacana Energy reviews and updates our Life Support Customer register. To ensure you remain registered as a Life Support Customer, a medical practitioner must confirm your eligibility in writing by completing the Life Support Customer registration form.
