How does it work?
Step 1: We estimate your monthly payment
To estimate your monthly instalment, we use a number of variables (including your billing history for the past 12 months) to estimate your costs into 12 equal payments.
If we do not have your billing history (for example, if you’re a new customer) we will use the average annual usage of a comparable customer as part of this calculation. See terms and conditions for more information.
Your Reliabill plan will be in place for a 12-month cycle and will be automatically renewed annually unless you tell us otherwise.
Step 2: You pay the same amount every month
Every month you will receive a statement showing your instalment amount and due date. Your instalment will be automatically direct debited from your bank account so you don’t have to think about it.
Your monthly statement will also show your progress in your annual cycle.
Every quarter you will receive a bill which will show how your monthly instalments compare to your actual usage. Your actual usage is the consumption recorded by your meter.
Note that on a Reliabill plan, you cannot change your payment frequency. You must pay your instalments monthly.
Step 3: We review your instalments every 6 months
We will review your Reliabill plan every six months based on the previous 12 months to assess whether your instalments are appropriate to cover your actual electricity usage.
If the difference between your instalments and your actual usage is greater than 10% over the past 12 months, your instalments for the next 12 months will be adjusted to account for the difference.
For example, if you’ve been paying $200 each month for the past six months, totaling $1,200 and your actual usage, as recorded by your meter, indicates that you should’ve paid $1,365, which is more than 10%, your monthly instalment will be re-adjusted to $227.50.
To the contrary, if the 6-monthly review indicates that you’re paying too much, your instalments will be decreased accordingly for the next 12 months.
What happens if I want to remove my Reliabill plan?
If you’d like to remove your Reliabill plan, please phone us on 1800 JACANA (1800 522 262) or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that when you cancel your Reliabill plan, your direct debit will also be removed and you will return to a normal payment cycle.
Is Reliabill right for me?
Reliabill is available to residential customers on a quarterly billing cycle who elect to pay their bills by direct debit and receive them by email.
Reliabill is currently not available for customers on the Pensioner Concession Scheme. As an alternative, customers can sign up to one of our regular payment options, which provide the ability to make regular payments and avoid surprises.

Your monthly instalment is calculated based on your variables including your billing history for the past 12 months.
