Following the NT Government’s electricity pricing reforms, government customers as defined in the electricity pricing order are charged cost reflective tariffs. These customers are not subsidised by the NT Government’s community service obligation and are no longer eligible for the subsidised standard commercial tariff.
Who this affects
Northern Territory Government and Australian Government customers are charged the applicable default government tariff. There are limited exclusions, including sites on residential tariffs.
Local government customers were proposed to be charged cost reflective tariffs from 1 July 2026. Instead, a new local government tariff has been introduced and applies the same rate to all regions.
Local government tariff
Valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.
This regulated tariff applies to local council sites using less than 750 megawatt hours per year and is charged at the same rate for all regions.

Default government tariffs
These tariffs apply to Northern Territory and Australian government customers as defined in the electricity pricing order.
As an electricity retailer, we bundle our default government pricing into:
- usage charges applied per kilowatt hour; and
- a fixed daily charge applied each day electricity is supplied to a property.
These bundles are applied by site based on location and network tariff.
Prices are valid from 1 July 2026.
Network charges
Network tariffs are set by the network provider based on annual usage and/or meter type.
- Tariff 2 – sites with a basic mechanical meter.
- Tariff 3b – sites with an electronic interval (smart) meter using less than 160 MWh per year.
- Tariff 3c – sites with an electronic interval (smart) meter using between 160-750 MWh per year.
Different network charges apply for each network tariff which are reflected in our bundled default rates.
