Solar feed-in tariffs

We offer a feed-in tariff (FiT) for extra electricity sent back to the grid from your rooftop solar system. FiTs are applied as a credit to save you money on your bill.

Our FiTs apply to residential and business customers with a solar PV system less than 30kVA and consuming less than 750 megawatt hours per year. You must have a valid connection agreement with Power and Water to receive a FiT from us.

Power Purchase Agreement

When you receive a FiT from us, you are agreeing to our Power Purchase Agreement.

Using your solar

It's cheapest to use the solar you produce at your property first, and only export excess solar to the grid in exchange for a FiT. This means you're only buying electricity from the grid when you need it.

Solar panels typically produce the most electricity during the middle of the day. Think about the best time of day to use large appliances like pool pumps to get the biggest benefit from your solar.

Available feed-in tariffs

We offer Anytime FiT at a standard rate of 9.33c/kWh. From 1 July 2025, we'll also offer a new Super FiT of 18.66c/kWh from 3pm to 9pm daily.

Super FiT

From 1 July 2025, Super FiT* will be available to solar customers with electronic interval (smart) meters. Super FiT applies from 3pm to 9pm daily at a rate of 18.66c/kWh. Anytime FiT will apply at all other times.

For more information, visit the Super FiT webpage.

*Super FiT is expected to be introduced at the rate of 18.66c/kWh from 3pm-9pm daily as announced by the Northern Territory Government. The final rate will be published in the electricity pricing order effective 1 July 2025.

Anytime FiT

The Anytime FiT is 9.33 cents per kilowatt hour (c/kWh). For eligible smart meter customers, this rate applies to all solar exported outside of Super FiT times.

This rate also applies at all times for mechanical (basic) meter customers.

Vacant properties

Properties with rooftop solar that are currently vacant can receive a feed-in tariff for exports to the grid if they have a valid connection agreement with Power and Water, and an open electricity account. However, the fixed daily charge is still applied to the account even if there is no consumption.

Premium FiT

Premium FiT was removed in 2020 for new solar customers. There are no plans to reinstate or extend Premium FiT.
